Fernie has been named as one of the best places in the world to visit this winter.

National Geographic compiled a list of the 10 Best Winter Trips of 2012, and Fernie was selected as one of them.

The editors at National Geographic said they picked Fernie for its amazing snow, historic town centre, and big parties, as well as the fact that it is easy to get to from the Canadian Rockies International Airport.

Other places in the top 10 included the Antarctic Peninsula, Palm Springs, California, and the Namibian Coast.
