Fires, floods, and ice storms

The environment is constantly changing and the District of Sparwood is doing its best to adapt.

The environment is constantly changing and the District of Sparwood is doing its best to adapt. Fires, floods, and ice storms are just a few of the issues Sparwood residents face that will be discussed at two climate change presentations next weekend.

District staff will host workshops on December 7 and 8 to give the community a chance to learn about what Sparwood is doing to adapt. Climate change experts will be on hand to go over details and answer questions.

The public is invited to come out and hear tips on how to protect their own property, as well as their entire neighbourhood. Input will be welcomed and those in attendance will have the chance to win prizes.

The presentations will take place at the Sparwood Senior Citizen’s Drop-in Centre on Friday, December 7 from 6 to 8 p.m., and Saturday, December 8 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.
