The TransRockies Gravel Royale bike race is returning to Fernie in 2023.

Next year’s event will take place from Aug. 28 to 31, with registration having opened on Sept. 28, according to a press release.

The inaugural Gravel Royale took place in 2022 and finished in Fernie on Aug. 25.

The race brings bikers through the Panorama Mountain Resort, Nipika Mountain Resort, Canal Flats, to the ceremonial finish line in Fernie.

The four day course covers 400 km and about 7,500 m of climbing. The 2022 event included 200 athletes from eight countries and 22 states and provinces.

“Riders can expect vast mountain views, native wildlife, crystal clear rivers, and a gravel adventure like no other.”
