B.C.’s police watchdog is investigating a police-involved incident in Eklford that left one man dead.

RCMP say that a 911 dispatcher received a call they weren’t able to understand on Friday afternoon (Feb. 25), from a man at a home in the 900-block of Alpine Way.

Police arrived short after 1:50 p.m. The man was unable to open the door, according to police, so officers entered the home after hearing “a concerning noise.”

Paramedics attempted to resuscitate the injured man but he ultimately died.

The Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia probes all police-related incidents to determine whether any action or inaction from officers are linked to death or injury.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the IIO BC at 1-8655-446-8477 or online.
