The City of Fernie has closed James White Park, Annex Park and Dogwood Park (Boat Launch) due to water seepage causing localized flooding in the parks. To address the safety of resident's access to the trail system along the river is also closed until further notice.
Water levels at this time are still contained within the channels of the river and monitoring of river and stream levels, inspection of riverbanks and vulnerable areas is ongoing.
Residents requiring sandbags to address water issues on their property can call City Hall at 250.423.6817 between 8:00am and 5:00pm, after 5:00pm please contact the Fire Hall at 250.423.4226.
