Q: What do you think is the biggest challenge facing the next Sparwood mayor and council?
A: A strong local economy has been identified by council in their Strategic Planning for the past three years. During that time, staff and council have worked tirelessly towards that goal. Momentum for economic development has been built. The district is undertaking construction of a new intersection at Highway 3 and 43. Servicing for new lots has begun and the intersection work will take place next year. Construction of a Joy Global facility will begin next year as well as a Hotel. Mall improvements are currently underway. The challenge facing the next mayor and council is to keep this momentum going.
