The Fernie Academy’s Christmas concert once again astonished the audience with amazing costumes, expert choreography and toe tapping songs.

The Grades on to three students presented the exciting Christmas nativity play on Monday and Tuesday evenings at the Catholic Hall in Fernie.

Based on a traditional Russian tale, the musical performance featured a grumpy lady called Baboushka, not to mention her perpetually hungry tabby cat, Tiddles, and her hen-pecked husband, Boris.

There are many different versions of this folk tale, but in this adaptation there were many colourful characters that had heard the news about the birth of a new king. They followed the star and joined in the celebration.
