Ongoing arson investigation in Fernie

The City of Fernie are asking for the public’s help to determine the cause of a suspicious house fire that occurred early Thursday morning.

The Elk Valley RCMP were called to 742 3rd Avenue at approximately 7 a.m. to deal with a structure fire. Upon arrival, smoke was seen issuing from the house.

Though the fire was dealt with quickly and no injuries were reported for either the three civilians or any of the firefighter staff, Fernie Fire Rescue and the RCMP are conducting an ongoing investigation to the cause of the fire.

Foul play has not been ruled out according to a release sent out Friday.
