RCMP charge impaired semi truck driver, RCMP search for info regarding reckless driver in Sparwood

On the evening of August 18, Elk Valley RCMP responded to a driving complaint involving a tractor trailer on highway 3 near Sparwood.

The report the RCMP had received from a member of the public was that the semi had been driving erratically and came close to colliding with another vehicle. RCMP located and stopped the vehicle, finding the driver to be impaired.

The driver of the semi was charged under B.C.’s Immediate Roadside Sanctions program which resulted in the semi and trailer both being seized and impounded for 30 days. The accused also had his drivers license seized under the same program for 90 days.

In other news, Elk Valley RCMP are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the pictured vehicle and its occupants.

In the early morning hours of August 8th, 2017 a black short box single cab truck (pictured above) drove onto the Sparwood Recreation grounds sports field and proceeded to spin its tires driving in circles resulting in an estimated $1500 damage.
