RCMP respond to report of stolen Fentanyl

On Mar. 28, the Elk Valley RCMP received a report of theft from a local pharmacy in Fernie, B.C.

On Mar. 28,  the Elk Valley RCMP received a report of theft from a local pharmacy in Fernie, B.C.

The police investigation had identified a suspect and also revealed that among the items stolen were eight Fentanyl patches.

In the early hours of Mar. 30, a 33-year-old male was taken into custody by the Elk Valley RCMP and has since been charged with theft and possession of a controlled substance.  Police subsequently executed a Search Warrant at the residence of the suspect and recovered some of the items stolen.

The Elk Valley RCMP would like to stress that Fentanyl is a controlled substance (narcotic pain medicine) under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, it is habit forming and the misuse of it can lead to overdose and death.

The RCMP are continuing their investigation and have not released the identity of anyone involved as of yet.
