Sparwood should have a new grader in time for winter, with the district set to trade in it’s 20-year-old model for a brand new one for a cool $498,734.

The district had budgeted for a new grader in 2022, with an allocation of $550K, putting the new grader well within bounds.

The new grader will be purchased from Finning Cranbrook, and will be a CAT 140 Motor Grader with all the attachments needed to maintain the district’s snow removal program over winter months.

While the old grader still works, it’s planned lifetime had now expired, and is expected to cost the district more in maintenance with each passing year.

District councillors approved the expense at the July 5 council meeting.
