Sparwood approves paving program for 2022

Four locations around town will see road works in coming weeks

The District of Sparwood has approved a contract for $610,611.37 for Cranbrook paving company BA Blacktop to work on four road locations around town.

As part of the 2022 paving program, BA Blacktop will be working on two locations on Ponderosa Drive in Sparwood Heights – from Sparwood Heights Drive to Cherrywood Boulevard, and a spot repair near the Pinyon Road and Ponderosa Drive intersection to address drainage issues.

The third location stretches from near the RCMP station at the intersection of Pine Avenue and Douglas Fir Road, stretching up Pine Avenue, past the Sparwood Healthcare Centre to Engelmann Spruce Drive.

The last location is Centennial Street, which is works associated with the renovations being carried out at Centennial Square.

The paving project is within budget, and expected to be completed this summer. Each location will see temporary closures while works are carried out.

Councillors approved awarding the contract to BA Blacktop at the August 2 council meeting.
