Sparwood Chamber of Commerce is hosting its very first trade show in September.
Business owners will be able to show off their products and services and network at this event, which runs Sept. 15 from 3 to 8 p.m., and Sept. 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Sparwood Curling Rink. There will be food trucks and a market for guests.
Executive director Beverly MacNaughton said the trade show is a great opportunity to recruit workers, attract new dealers and meet customers. It also gives students a chance to investigate potential career paths.
The event will be particularly helpful for small businesses, who often have trouble finding workers and local contractors to do jobs when in close proximity to large companies.
Residents from the Elk Valley and Crowsnest Pass are encouraged to participate.
The event is free for visitors, but businesses must pay a fee. For standard businesses with chamber membership, applications fees are $150 for first booth and $100 for an additional booth. Non-member fees start at $200 for first booth and $150 for an additional booth. Each booth consists of a table and two chairs.
Home-based businesses, not-for-profits, and food trucks with membership pay $100 and non-members pay $125.
Payment is due by Sept. 8.
Businesses will be entered into a draw to win a free booth at next year’s show and they will receive an invitation to the Exhibitor’s Social on the evening of Sept. 15. They will be listed on the show website and Facebook page.
Cancellations must be made in writing and received by Sparwood chamber by Sept. 8. Cancellations received prior to the deadline are subject to a non-refundable $50 fee. Cancellation notices received after the deadline must forfeit all their booth rental money.
Requests to sell raffle tickets or 50/50 tickets must be obtained from the chamber prior to the show.
