Sparwood Ratifies Three Year Collective Agreement with CUPE

The District of Sparwood and members of CUPE Local 2698 have ratified a three year Collective Agreement.

The District of Sparwood and members of CUPE Local 2698 have ratified a three year Collective Agreement, replacing the previous contract that expired in February. The agreement provides for wage increases of 2 per cent per year in each year, as well as benefit enhancements and changes in contract language.

The agreement was ratified by the membership and has also been approved by council.

"Sparwood is pleased to have a new contract in place that will continue to foster a positive working relationship with our unionized employees,” stated Lois Halko, Mayor. “This agreement reflects a good balance between the needs of each of the parties.”

CUPE Local 2698 represents approximately 51 employees, who provide a wide variety of municipal services.
