Sparwood Search and Rescue (SSAR) has been recognised as Sparwood’s Volunteer Organization of the Year for 2021.

“The District of Sparwood would like to take the opportunity to recognise the dedication of the Sparwood Search and Rescue, and how their work continues to be a valuable resource in our community,” said Mayor David Wilks at the May 3 council meeting.

“We are pleased to present Sparwood Search and Rescue with the Volunteer Organization of the Year Award for 2021. Thank you for the work you do in making our community a better place.”

Councillors presented representatives of the SSAR with a check for $500 to go towards their continued work.

The annual Volunteer Organization of the Year award is given to groups that demonstrate initiative, leadership and creativity in their service to the community, inspire others to engage in volunteer service and improve the overall quality of life for residents and the community as a whole.
