Sparwood students’ artwork featured on Premier’s Christmas cards

Five students from Frank J. Mitchell were recognised for their artistic prowess

Five students from Frank J. Mitchell (FJM) Elementary School in Sparwood had their artwork selected by Premier John Horgan for his holiday cards this year.

Each of the five students received two cards with their artwork, a certificate of appreciation from Premier John Horgan and a letter for the class thanking the students and announcing the winner.

Principal of FJM, Jaslene Atwal, said that opportunities such as this helped bring pride and recognition to the school and to Sparwood.

“During the pandemic it’s so important for us to find positives and recognize students for their hard work and contributions,” she said.

“It’s been a great boost for our school culture and in building community. It’s so nice for smaller communities far away from Vancouver and Victoria to be recognized across the province.

“We are proud of all our students.”

A total of 36 students from FJM submitted their card designs to John Horgan’s office for the Premier’s annual holiday card contest.
