It’s Arts and Culture Week in Sparwood, with the annual tradition back after a two year break and kicking off with the ‘Taste of Sparwood’ day on Apr. 24.

The sunny weather may have kept the crowds away but the spirits were good for all who attended who listened to great music, ate good food and browsed the craft booths. The event was organised by the Sparwood Arts Council and showcased the wonderful fare made by Sparwood locals.

Moreish Pastries made the best lemon cake ever and sold it by the slice. I treated myself to a big slice. This booth was the collaboration of Suzanne Morey , Sherry Brooks and Aaron Ely. They said that this was an excellent opportunity to celebrate culture through food.

Other booths included the Community Response Network, who through volunteers create a coordinated community response to adult abuse, neglect and self neglect.
