Suspect identified in rash of break and enters

A suspect will be heading to court to face charges of twenty five counts of break and enter.

A suspect was recently identified in the rash of break and enters throughout the East Kootenays. A male, in his mid forties and a resident of Cranbrook will be heading to court today to face charges of twenty five counts of break and enter and theft. Police report that he has admitted to all twenty five counts, three of which had occurred in Fernie and two in Sparwood.

"It is thanks to surveillance video that investigators had identified him," says Sgt. Dave  Dubnyk from the Elk Valley RCMP. "Our team had been working with Cranbrook investigators, and this male was very well known to Cranbrook RCMP as he has an extensive history of property related crimes," says Dubnyk.

It is suspected that he worked alone.
