The Isabella Dicken Elementary School bike “roadeo” had been postponed due to rain

Isabella Dicken kids learned about safe riding at the annual bike rodeo this week.

The kindergarten to Grade 3 students brought their bikes to school on Tuesday morning to have them checked over by bike mechanics, and then learned a few things that will make their riding safer.

The event is run every spring by parent volunteers, the RCMP, Fernie fire department and Fernie paramedics and aims to get children ready to ride their bikes safely over summer.

As well as having their bikes checked and engraved, the kids also had their helmets adjusted to make sure they fit properly, had tire pressure checks and then went for a spin around an obstacle course.
