A Sparwood youth was in police custody last week after allegedly making threats on social media.

A second youth has also been arrested in the Cranbrook area as a result of the investigation.

On the evening of Jan. 21, Cranbrook RCMP received reports that the two youths had posted threats on social media. Police immediately moved to identify the suspects and RCMP were able to locate and arrest them.

“Extensive Cranbrook resources, along with School District 5 personnel, have been working tirelessly all weekend in an attempt to determine whether or not these two youths were acting alone or there may be others involved,” said Cst. Katie Forgeron, Cranbrook RCMP.

Cranbrook RCMP along with SD5 personnel will continue to follow up on any leads with regard to these threats.
