Biker’s rejoice! There are three big biking events happening in Fernie over the next week you may want to know about.
First up is the WAM BAM Dirt Jump Jam, happening on Saturday (Sept. 3) at the Dirt Jump Park.
Late registration for the annual freeride competition will be available Friday (Sept. 2) from 6 to 7:30 p.m., with the park open all day for public and open practice. Runs will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday and go to 10 p.m.
Next is the Singletrack 6 Mountain Bike Race running from Sept. 6 to 11, which will be passing through Fernie for it’s first two days.
Hosted by the TransRockies Race Series (which recently put on the inaugural Gravel Royale which finished in Fernie), Singletrack 6’s route for 2022 will feature a South Kootenays alignment for the first time, travelling just above the 49th Parallel, according to the race website. After Fernie, the race will be moving on to Kimberley and then Rossland.
Lastly, Fernie’s Project 9 Mountain Bike Race will be taking place on Sept. 9. For more information, visit the Tourism Fernie website or the Fernie Mountain Bike Club Facebook page.
