Two Fernie companies have made the short list for the Canadian Home Builders’ Association’s Keystone Awards.

Fernie Home Builders and Parastone Developments have both made the cut in different categories.

Fernie Home Builders is in the running for the top spot for the Best Single Family Detached Home $1 million - $1.5 million category for their Elkhorn Chalet project, while Parastone Developments is in the running to win Best Single Family Detached Home under $500,000 for their Yirri Cottages in the Montane subdivision.

Sales and marketing manager at Parastone, Seven Szelei said that they were honored to be nominated for the award.

“This is a reflection of our staff’s hard work, vision and buy in to believe we can deliver the best product in the province within our respective category,” he said.

“It’s also great to hear that Mike Delich (owner of Fernie Home Builders) has been nominated in his respective category.

“Having two Fernie developers being nominated is not possible without the support of local employees and contractors, local businesses, the City of Fernie, Tourism Fernie, Chamber of Commerce, and all of the amazing residents of Fernie that make it such a magical and desirable community.”

“We are honoured to be judged as a finalist for the interior of British Columbia housing awards,” said Mike Delich of Fernie Home Builders.

“The winners will be honoured at an event in Kamloops on February 12, 2022 and we are excited to attend. We thank and acknowledge our dedicated team of woodworkers, skilled tradespeople, suppliers and craftsmen who worked on this one-of-a-kind home.”

The CBHA has over 20 categories that home-builders, developers and designers can enter their projects, with a ‘record number of entries’ from the CBHA’s BC Central Interior Division.

“It goes to show how busy our industry has been over the last few years, and we’re excited to recognize these members for all their hard work,” said CBHA Central Interior president, Jere Lorenz.

The CBHA did not hold Keystone Awards in 2021, meaning entries for the 2022 awards include developments and projects between 2019 and 2021.

Parastone previously won accolades by winning at the Georgie Awards for its Yirri Cottages earlier in the year.
