Woman rushed to hospital after train and car collision

A woman had to be airlifted to a hospital after a train and vehicle accident on the morning of December 17.

A woman was taken by air ambulance to Calgary Hospital after a westbound freight train made contact with a vehicle at a private railway crossing on Caithness Road and Highway 3 in the East Kootenay’s on the morning of December 17.

Local RCMP and first responders were notified and tended to the incident that occurred at approximately 11:45 a.m., Canadian Pacific (CP) Public Affairs & Communications representative Salem Woodrow said.

“I don’t have the full details as to the extent of the injuries of the occupant of the vehicle at this time but my understanding is that the individual is being taken to a Calgary hospital by air ambulance,” Woodrow added.
