After years of discussions, soil has finally been turned on Fernie’s new transfer station.
On Friday last week, representatives from the City of Fernie, District of Sparwood, District of Elkford and the RDEK attended the site of the new transfer station, on Highway 3 opposite Home Hardware, to see work begin.
East Kootenay MLA Bill Bennett, said, “This project has been going on for so long and I have been asked to promote three or four different sites in the last few years.
“So for me, to see something finally in progress is really great.”
