Young Fernie cadet recognised for exemplary service

The Cadet Medal of Excellence is awarded once a year

Local cadet Saidee Shaw of the 2757 PPCLI Fernie Army Cadet Corps has been awarded the Cadet Medal of Excellence for 2022.

The award recognises exemplary service by a cadet for taking an active role in the community and in their role as a cadet.

Shaw, who has been in the cadets for four years, said that it felt good to be recognised for her work.

“It gives me a sense of pride that I’ve earned this,” she said.

Shaw was presented the medal on Saturday June 18 at the Fernie Legion by local legion president Jeannie Watson. The medal is awarded only once a year to a local cadet.
