January 3, 1939 - August 10, 2021
Alex Seize passed away peacefully in his sleep at home at 11:00 AM on the morning of August 10, 2021.
Alexander Joseph Seize was born on January 3, 1939 in South Porcupine, ON. He married Diane Bella Marie (Pitt) in 1963 in Timmins, ON.
Alex is survived by 5 children: Ernie (Crystal), Nicole (Trevor) Walters, Jackie (Don) Bruce, Tyler (Pauline), Lesley (Kevin) Nickel and Nicolas (Seize) Bruce, his grandson, that he considered his special miracle son. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, his sister Julie Helmer, sister-in-law Claire (Doug) Husson, and his brother-in-law Roger (Val) Pitt as well as many nieces and nephews. Alex was predeceased by his father Ernest in 1965 and his mother Julie in 1969, his brother Bob Broullard and his wife Maime and their three sons, and his brother-in-law Larry Helmer.
Alex enjoyed the outdoors; fishing, hunting and especially our summer family camping vacations. He valued time spent with his children and grandchildren, dirt biking, quadding and boating, and enjoyed the time spent target practicing with pellet guns and bow & arrows. Alex spent hours in the backyard with his container gardening, resting in his hammock, and reading and doing sudoku.
Alex attended Michigan Teck University with a football scholarship, and majored in Civil Engineer. He worked underground and open pit mines in 5 different provinces in Canada. In 1974 he moved to Sparwood and started at Kaiser Resources as a blasting foreman. Two years later, he was hired by Fording Coal where he worked for the next 23 years.
His biggest success, he always said, was a happy marriage and a large, close family.
