May 7, 1939 - July 17, 2020
It is with great sadness that the family of Alice Paul announces her passing on July 17, 2020 at the age of 81. Born on May 7, 1939 in Strathclair, Manitoba to Melvin and Marie Melanie Swain.
Mom and dad were married July 6,1955. Soon after they would start their family and welcomed into this world six girls and three boys. Mom and dad resided throughout Saskatchewan ending up in Moosomin for many years. The family moved west to Sparwood B.C. in 1978. All the while mom struggled with the loss of her vision due to Glaucoma eventually becoming legally blind.
In 2005 dad passed away and mom would have to adapt to a very different life of challenges.
In 2010 mom would start another chapter of her life with a move to the Comox Valley to be near one of her six daughters. There she became active in whatever she could such as The White Cane Club, L'Arche, and continued support through Christ The King Catholic Church as well as the many activities provided in assisted living. Mom loved to travel, especially flying and taking trips to be with one of her family throughout BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan. It was a blessing for each of us to have had these special visits with mom, we'll always hold these memories close to our hearts.
Mom had courage, strength and amazing faith. We will miss her many prayers. We're pretty sure she is now looking over us from heaven with 20/20 vision. Love you mom.
Alice was predeceased by husband Clifford and two sons Daniel and Floyd. Left to mourn are seven of her children. Beverley Shauf (Doug), Esther Gigliotti (Dan), Judy Probert (Derwin), Lorna O'Grady (Ron), Freda Cuddington (Dennis), Claudette Chorney (Brian), Clayton (Serina), and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, along with much extended family.
Our sincere gratitude to Dr. Sand Russell-Atkinson and Dr. Patricia Johnson for all the care provided to our mother, as well as the staff at Mountain View at St. Joseph's, Cumberland Lodge, and The Comox Valley Senior Village.
There will be a service for immediate family at a later date in Saskatchewan.
