Anita Marcinowski

Anita Gertrude Marcinowski passed away peacefully in the Elk Valley Hospital, Fernie, BC on Sunday evening, March 21, 2010 at the age of 84 years.

A graveside service was held at the Elko Cemetery, Elko, BC on Friday morning, March 26th at 11 a.m. with Jack Bowers the funeral celebrant. A reception for family and friends followed in the Senior Citizen Hall, Sparwood, from 2 p.m. on.

Born in Frontier, Saskatchewan on November 25, 1925, she remained in Frontier, becoming a young bride, then moved to Shaunovan, Maple Creek, back to Frontier, until moving to Sparwood in 1970, where they first purchased a trailer, then a home in lower Sparwood. Anita lived a full and active life, including her years of work as clerk in the local grocery store in Saskatchewan, quilting, sewing, cross stitch (of which she has many great pictures for keepsake), crocheting afghans, and ladies auxiliary to the Legion in Sparwood. She is well remembered for her love of TV Bingo, twice weekly coffee meetings with her friends, always making sure anyone needing a ride was picked up.

She was predeceased by her parents, Guy and Muriel Healey, sister Gwendolyn, brother George Healey.

Anita was a loving wife to Mike, having just celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on March 17th; a devoted mother, wonderful mother in law, a grandmother that loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was deeply loved by them; family includes, husband Mike of Sparwood, daughter, Sharon (Bill) Kimber of Calgary, son, Garry (Glenda) Marcinowski of Sparwood; 4 grandchildren, Teresa, Douglas, Joey and Chad; and 6 great grandkids; as well two sisters, Eileen Samoleski of Shaunavon, Sask, and Shirley Uglene of Parksville, BC.

Memorial donations may be sent to the Sparwood Senior Citizens Club in memory of Anita.
