With his family at his bedside, Anthony Richard Puppin passed away at the Elk Valley Hospital on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at the age of 83 years. Tony was born in Fernie on April 3, 1928 to parents Victor and Lucia Puppin. Tony started working for the Ministry of Highways in September of 1947 at the age of 18. He worked as a truck driver until becoming Road Foreman 2 in 1969. By 1974 Tony had become the Senior Road Foreman, remaining in this position until his retirement in August 1985 after 38 years of service. Following his retirement, Tony became a “snowbird”, travelling down south to Arizona and Mexico for 24 years of his 26 retirement years. Tony loved life. He enjoyed playing his accordion and loved to dance. Tony also enjoyed camping with his family and riding his motorbike at Loon Lake, and he never refused a game of horseshoes. Tony will be dearly missed by his daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Ray Marcer, grandsons Joel and Tanner, his sister Josephine Brett, nephews Ed (Viive) and Victor (Edda) Brett, his niece Dorothy Dobie, great nieces and nephews: Allan Dobie, Christopher, Allison, and Alexis Brett and his special friend Eleanor Fransoo. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Yvonne, his sister Victoria Maio and brothers-in-law Brett and Silvo Maio. The Memorial Service was held at Cherished Memories “Serenity Chapel” on Saturday, September 24th with Jane Clarke officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Elk Valley Hospice, P.O.
