December 23, 1941 – December 27, 2011

With her devoted Husband and family by her side, it is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Sister and Aunt, Barbara Anne Rushton at the Elk Valley Hospital on December 27, 2011 at the age of 70.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Douglas Rushton, her three children: Annette (Richard) Verge, Ricky (Pat) Mellish and Gerry Mellish. Also, her daughter-in-law, Debbie Mellish, 6 grandchildren, Tyler and Sharlyn Verge, Kane Mellish and Heidi Mellish, Paula Lambert and Kristal (Alec) Welch, 2 great grandchildren, Addisen and Kacey Welch, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sisters, Katherine and Della Brewer and her brothers Gordy (Lynn) McBryan, Jerry (Eileen) McBryan, Russell McBryan and Doug McBryan. She was predeceased by her mother, Della Brewer (McBryan) father, Arthur McBryan, step-father , Arthur Brewer, two sisters, Lillian McBryan and Irene Lee (McBryan) and two brothers, Stewart McBryan and Don McBryan.

Barbara was very well known for her loyality, friendship and generosity to everyone . She always made you feel at home and part of her family. Barbara was very well known for her cooking skills and worked in the community for many years as a cook for the Tom Uphill Memorial Home, Meals on Wheels and Papa John’s Restaurant.

There will be no service and in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, 175 Bloor Street East, Suite 700 North Tower, Toronto, Ontario, M4W 3R8.
