In loving memory ~
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Baukje (Wiena) Alida Kramer (Schuurman) on February 14th, 2025, at the age of 84.
Wiena was born in 1941 in Spanbroek, Netherlands, to Sietz and Marie Schuurman during the Occupation in WW II. She married Johannes (John) Kramer on January 21, 1961, and recently celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary.
Wiena was courageous, immigrating to Canada while speaking no English, and few friends, determined to raise a family on the lonely prairies. Eventually the mountains were calling, and she made British Columbia her home, living in Fernie, Blind Bay, and in Qualicum Beach until her passing.
She endured hardships, severe arthritis, cancer, heart surgery, two knee replacements, and two leg fractures without complaint. To say she was one tough cookie is an understatement. She loved gardening with John, growing huge Dahilas, and having an immaculate yard full of flowers.
She loved to travel, and visited places around the world, taking several trips to Indonesia, which was one of her favorites. Mom had four sons, (Marcel, Fred, Paul and Tom) nine grand kids and three great grand kids.
