KENNEDY:

In Loving Memory of

(Bill) William Nicholas George Kennedy

Dec. 24, 1933 -

Aug. 27, 2010

- Beloved Husband, Father, Teacher, Friend, and Outdoorsman -

“Killer” Kennedy was born in Fernie on Christmas Eve, 1933. He was orphaned at age two when his father, William Kennedy, died from T.B. His mother Margaret (nee McAndrew) was later re-married to George Wasnock who moved the family to Vancouver where he’d found work in the dockyards.

“Killer Bill”, as he would later be dubbed by both his students and hunting buddies, returned to Fernie at age sixteen where he met and later married Anne Chivers (they eloped!). Bill and Anne entered the teaching profession and both enjoyed 30+ year careers teaching school in Fernie. Bill believed in a well-behaved classroom and, if you were ever his student, he probably gave you lines at some time.

Off the job, Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved the great outdoors and shared many special times with family and friends out in the middle of them. If you were lucky (or unlucky) enough to have been there with him then you probably came home either wet to the waist and smelling of trout, or smelling of game and covered in sweat and mud. Seemed it wasn’t a “real” hunting trip unless the truck got stuck.

Bill enjoyed sports as well and at different times in his life he became quite avid and able at bowling, soccer, curling, and darts. After retirement, Bill and Anne moved to Vancouver Island where they enjoyed boating and fishing in the many channels and bays.

Bill cultivated many special friendships over the years and always kept his friends close to his heart and held them in the highest regard. That he was able to chat with some of his best mates before he passed meant the world to him and to us.

Bill is predeceased by his wife Anne (Chivers), his father William Kennedy, his step-father George Wasnock and his half brother George Wasnock.

He is survived by his mother Margaret (McAndrew) of Vancouver, his children Holly (Dave) Buliziuk, Laura (Terry) Nelson, and Cameron (Lori) Kennedy, and his grandchildren: Brandon and Liam Buliziuk, Ryland and Luke Nelson, and Nicholas and Parker Kennedy, all of whom are Fernieites.

Rest in Peace Dad, tell Mom we love her.
