Dec 24, 1958 - Jan 21, 2018
Bradley Joseph Carolla, age 59, passed away at the Elk Valley Hospital on Sunday, January 21, 2018 following a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Fernie on December 24, 1958 to parents Peter and Leona Carolla.

A true "local boy", Brad grew up enjoying hunting and fishing - and of course the annual Lion's Demolition Derby every September long weekend. Brad's love of hockey began at a young age. He was a rink rat for 5 years and played minor hockey up to Midgets.

Brad worked as an equipment operator at Kaiser Resources for 7 years prior to his custodian job with School District #5. He took great pride in his work and remained there for over 20 years.

Brad loved the Coal Creek Reunions, playing horseshoes, Bocci, and darts. He was a member of the Castle Mountain Motor Cross, and was also an armchair referee, cheering on his favourite sports teams: the Boston Bruins, Chicago Bears, and the Toronto Blue Jays.

Family and friends often teased Brad about being "Norm" from the TV show Cheers .... He loved sitting in "his" chair, visiting with everyone at the Fernie Hotel. He will be remembered as a loyal son, father, brother, uncle and a trusting friend who was always willing to give you the shirt off his back.

Brad is survived by his son Joe Carolla (Sheri Hartley), parents Peter and Leona, sisters Chris (Bob) Koran, Dian (Darwin) Zander, and Linda Carolla (Mario Araujo) and his brother Darren (Ellen) Carolla as well as many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Minor Hockey Association.
