SMITH:

On Wednesday, May 18, 2011, Christine “Chrissy” Jean Smith was summoned to her eternal rest at the Rocky Mountain Village. She was 57 years old. Chrissy was born in Kelowna, BC on November 2, 1953.

Chrissy is survived by sisters Pat (Ray) Reghenas of Sparwood and Ellen (John) Porco of Spokane, brothers Bob Smith of Ontario, Gordon (Pat) Whiting of Sparwood and Don (Marie) Whiting of Kelowna as well as several nieces, nephews and wonderful friends from the Life Skills community. She was predeceased by her parents, Anne and Abe Smith.

Born with Down Syndrome, Chrissy touched many lives with her exuberant passion for life and her genuine, loving spirit. She enjoyed attending Life Skills, especially her outings with her special worker and friend, Val. Chrissy also enjoyed swimming and bowling, and her favorite game was undoubtedly Bingo. When living in Sparwood, Chrissy and her mother Anne never missed a Bingo game! Chrissy truly embraced life and all those around her. She will be dearly missed.

A Memorial Service celebrating Chrissy’s life was held at Cherished Memories “Serenity Chapel” on Wednesday, May 25th with Jane Clarke officiating. Following the service, Chrissy was laid to rest with her beloved mother Anne.
