Clara Mae Damstrom (nee Noble) was born in Edgerton, Alberta to Molly and Willis Noble on July 15, 1930. She spent her early years in Edgerton, riding her horse to and from school. Clara was the oldest child of three children - her two siblings were sister Gwen and brother Harold. When she was a teenager, her family moved to Trail where her dad had accepted a job at the smelter.

At the very young age of 16, she was sent to live with and care for her grandparents and her uncle on their farm in Olympia WA. They were married in Sandpoint, Idaho on July 20,1953. Edgar and Clara had 7 children, they were immensely proud of all the children and their families.

In 1961 Edgar and Clara moved the family to where Edgar was born on the homestead in Jaffray, BC. There, Edgar and brother Arvid, built the house that would be the family home for the next 60 some years and where Clara lived until the day of her passing.
