Clayton was born on November 19, 1980 in Kamloops, BC and went to Jesus on February 21, 2019 at the age of 38.

He attended school in Fernie at Isabella Dicken Elementary and then Fernie Secondary School, where he met many of his lifelong friends. After graduation, Clayton attended the College of the Rockies for his heavy duty mechanic apprenticeship, where he was awarded as the Snap-On Tools Top Student in his class.
