It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of Daniel Gordon Roberts. With loved ones at his bedside, Dan passed away at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary on June 8th at the age of 54 years. The eldest of six children, Dan was born in Fernie on October 11, 1957.
Dan graduated from the Kitsilano Secondary School, and in 1976 he joined the 2nd Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, proudly serving in the military until 1982. An avid outdoorsman, Dan loved to spend his time fishing, attending archery shoots, riding his quad and photographing the beauty of his surroundings. He was also a military history buff who enjoyed relaxing with a good book.
Friendly and outgoing, Dan loved his family and friends. He will be lovingly remembered for his kind and generous heart, his mischievous grin …. and his really bad humor!
Dan is survived by his wife Karyn, his children: Jessica Leigh, Gordon, Samantha and Francheska, 7 grandchildren: Aries, Delana, Tessa, Brock, Wyatt, Jana and Zane, his mother Evelyn Stevens, brothers Michael (Doris) Roberts, William Roberts, Paul Stevens, Erik (Cari) Stevens with their children Holly and Heidi, and his sister Ingrid Stevens with her children, Ericka, Lewis, Jenna and Lilly. He was predeceased by his father Harry Roberts and his step-father Mark Stevens.
The family wishes to thank the Elk Valley Hospital staff, S.T.A.R.S. and the Foothills Hospital C.I.C.U. for going above and beyond in their care for Dan.
