August 6, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Denis Mayert on August 6th, 2020.
Denis was born in Summerland BC to Alec & Jessie Mayert in 1951. Growing up Denis spent time in Horseshoe Bay, Seton Portage and Lillooet.
Work opportunities took him to Elkford BC where he resided for over 40 years. Throughout his life Denis worked in the coal mines, ran his own business and prior to retirement was a Crane Operator for RMR.
When forced to retire due to his health he moved to Pincher Creek AB where he built some great friendships and focussed on his true passion of collecting and restoring classic cars.
Denis was known for his sense of humour, his ability to tell stories and for being a kind and genuine human being. Above all else he was a loving Dad and loyal friend.
Denis is predeceased by his parents, Alec & Jessie, sister Lavina and nephew Dallas.
He is survived by his daughters, Michelle (Jeff) and Carrie (Steven); his siblings, Neil (June), Sharyn (Rick); nieces and nephews; Dale, Gordie, Janet(Don), Tami, Sheldon (Coralee); step children; April (Jeremy), Dean(Sarah), Roy (Zippora) and their families.
A family celebration of Denis's life will take place in Summerland BC at a later date.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the World Wildlife Federation in Denis's memory.
If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, we'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
