Doug Engel - of Elora, and formerly of Oliphant, peacefully at Groves Memorial Hospital, Fergus, on Sunday, September 26, 2021. Douglas "Doug" Alexander Engel at the age of 87 years.
Devoted husband and best friend to Marie (nee McDonough) for almost 61 years. Dear father of Kim (Peter Folkerson), of Guelph, and Preston Engel (Dawn), of Sparwood, BC.
Cherished grandfather of Michael Folkerson (Holly), Andrew Folkerson (Aleah), Brett Engel, and Paige Engel. Brother of Robert Engel (late Evelyn), of Owen Sound, and Muriel Moss (late Terry), of Mississauga; and brother-in-law of John McDonough (Maria), and Collette McDonough.
Sadly missed by his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Albert and Helen; and brother-in-law Liam McDonough (Marie).
Family wish to express their gratitude to the terrific staff of the Heritage River Retirement Residence, and to the very caring staff of Groves Memorial Hospital. Family invited friends to gather for visitation to celebrate Doug's life from the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel, 272 Berford St., Wiarton (519) 534-5341 on Saturday October 2, 2021 from 12-2 PM.
