Doug was born November 8, 1961 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Lethbridge Alberta to Allan and Beverley Anderson. Doug and his family lived in Picture Butte, Alberta until 1964, then Genelle, BC until 1967, Airdrie, Alberta until 1976 then moving to Fort Macleod, Alberta. Doug graduated from F.P. Walshe High School in Fort Macleod in 1979.
Doug worked for Ace Construction until 1990, where he obtained his Power Lineman ticket. Doug met his wife Barb and was married November 19, 1988 in Lethbridge, Alberta.
Doug and Barb moved to Sparwood, BC in March 1990 where Doug began working for Westar Mining, which later became Teck- Elkview Operations where he worked until his passing. In Sparwood, Doug and Barb raised their sons Scott and Michael. The boys were Doug’s greatest accomplishment as he was so proud of them, spending many weekends watching them play hockey, going to the lake fishing or just watching the many sports on a quiet Sunday.
Doug is survived by his wife Barb, sons Scott and Michael along with his parents Allan and Beverley; sister Patti (Sam) Di Maria; brothers David (Candice) Anderson, Chris (Lesia) Anderson; In laws, Mike and Peggy Dase, Carol (Brian) Huculak, Michele (Glenn) Wilson and Linda (Darren) Dorge; Nieces and Nephews Jenna DiMaria, Kelsey Huculak, Kendra Huculak, Samantha (Adam) DiMaria, Kylie Wilson, Jill Wilson, Bryson Huculak, Ross DiMaria, Brooke Dorge, Sydney Dorge, Metro Anderson and Spencer Dorge; as well as Doug’s uncle Don (Mary) Anderson who had a very special bond with him; along with many cousins and aunts and uncles. Doug was predeceased by his grandparents Dick and Alice Anderson and Dick and Mary Bertoia as well as his cousin Jeff Bertoia.
Doug enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, Ghostrider hockey games, going to the casino and being with his boys. Doug was a quiet but very humble man and would help many when they needed it. He was a wonderful dad, husband, son, brother and friend. He will be missed by many but never forgotten.
A Memorial Service was held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Sparwood on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 11 am.
