It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our dearly beloved grandmother, great grandmother, Frances Emily Ross of McCreary Manitoba on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the McCreary Alonsa Health Center, McCreary Manitoba.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her loving grandchildren, David Blair Turnbull of Foxwarren Manitoba, Elizabeth Jill Klapp (Andrew MacIntyre) of Sparwood British Columbia, Robert Ross Turnbull (Samantha) of Rocanville Saskatchewan, Kathleen Mary Lorraine Murray (Alti) of Elkford British Columbia, John Duncan James Klapp (Jennifer) of Fort MacLeod Alberta, Andrew Frederick Klapp (Candice) of Elkford British Columbia; son in laws D’Arcy Blair Turnbull (Gladys) of Rocanville Saskatchewan, Frederick John Klapp of McCreary Manitoba; great-grandchildren Greg, Hayley, Ceara, Olivia, Declan, Isabelle, Liam, Sarah, Cass, Jesslyn, Katelyn and nieces and nephews. Frances was predeceased by her son James David in 1951, husband David James in 1991, daughter Lorraine Marti 1992, and daughter Elizabeth Jane in 2010.

Frances was born in Winnipeg Manitoba August 11, 1921. She attended Allen Wood and Lord Selkirk School. Frances married David James Ross of Winnipeg Manitoba November 25, 1942. Fran started her career as a legal secretary in Winnipeg. Upon marriage Fran raised her family with her husband in the communities of Grandview Manitoba, Lacombe Alberta and later McCreary Manitoba in 1965. Shortly after her arrival in McCreary, Fran served as Secretary Treasurer of the Turtle River School Division until her retirement in 1988. Frances relocated to Elkford British Columbia in 1996 to be with her youngest daughter and family. It was here that Fran enjoyed her later retirement with great grandchildren, golfing and serving the seniors of this community. Fran moved back to Lorray Manor, Dauphin Manitoba in 2008. After suffering a stroke Frances moved to McCreary/ Alonsa Health Care Center under the gentle care and tender hands of the community she called home. Frances contributed greatly to rural health care, public education and advocacy needs of senior citizens. She was an avid Blue Bombers fan, expert arm chair curler and enjoyed rounds of golf with friends and family.

Funeral Service was held Monday August 12, 1013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Knox United Church in McCreary Manitoba officiated by lay minister Wendy Denbow. Interment was at the McCreary municipal cemetery. Eulogy was given by granddaughter Elizabeth Jill Klapp. Active pallbearers were Alti Murray, David Turnbull, Andrew MacIntyre, Robert Turnbull, Greg Wagner, Burt Klapp. Honorary pallbearers Jim Klapp, Andrew Klapp, D’Arcy Turnbull, Jack Klapp, David and Sharon Ross, Linda Klapp, Jean Davis, Cathy McVey, Jack and Gail Hrenirchuk, Steve Gingeras, Shirley Bennett, Val Maciura.

If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made Muscular Dystrophy Canada, Multiple Sclerosis Society or Canadian Cancer Society. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for those who showed kindness and concern for Frances in her final days.
