SCARPELLI:

Francesco Scarpelli, our beloved husband, father and Nono passed away in Kalispell, Montana on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the age of 78 years.

Francesco was born to parents Michele and Marietta Scarpelli in Lappano, Italy on February 2, 1933. He served in the Italian Army in Rome during peace times, and in 1959 came to Canada with his wife Assunta and their son Michele. Francesco worked in the underground mines for 26 years and then in surface mining until his retirement at the age of 58. True to his Italian heritage, Francesco loved being with family and friends; sharing delicious meals made from the fresh produce grown in his garden, and of course some of his homemade wine! He enjoyed playing cards, and always looked forward to his Friday night dart league, participating in many tournaments throughout the years. Francesco also loved to spend time in nature’s playground; camping, fishing, hunting, and touring the back country on his quad, enjoying the cool, refreshing waters on his Seadoo, or cruising about town on his Vespa. Francesco’s memory will continue to live on within the hearts of those who loved him.

Francesco will be dearly missed by his wife of 53 years, Assunta Scarpelli, 4 sons: Michele (Jayreen), Raffaele (Jacquie), Mario (Monica), and Francesco, and 9 grandchildren: Joshua, Braydon, Dusty, Cathlin, Michael, Lindsay, Aspen, and Justin, as well as, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents.

Prayers were held at the Holy Family Catholic Church on Friday, May 20th. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, May 21st with Father Bart van Roijen, Celebrant. Interment followed at St. Margaret’s Cemetery.
