HUNT:
George Samuel Hunt passed away peacefully at his home, his daughter Barbara at his side, on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the age of 87 years.
George is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Gordon Koch, his brother Ken (Sheila), and his sister Lillian, as well as nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his parents Geoffrey and Barbara Hunt, his brother Jeff, and his beloved wife Hilda in 1994.
One of four children, George was born in Fernie on September 16, 1922. As a young man, he enlisted with the Royal Canadian Navy and served his country during WWII. Following his discharge from the Navy, George returned to Fernie, spending the next 42 years working as a welder and mechanic for the mines. A quiet, gentle man, George will be missed by his loving family and friends, his golfing and curling pals, his comrades at the Royal Canadian Legion and his brothers at the Elk’s Lodge.
George’s family extends a special thank you to the Home and Nursing Support staff at Interior Health for their many kindnesses and gentle care.
Memorial Services will be held at the Christ Church Anglican on Monday, June 21, 2010 with Rev. Bill Inglis, Celebrant.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in George’s name to the Christ Church Anglican Restoration Fund. Arrangements entrusted to Cherished Memories Funeral Services Ltd.
