Hugh enjoyed the family fishing, camping, hiking and hunting trips and especially enjoyed the annual pheasant hunt, with the entire family. He loved his adventurous canoe trips with his two younger sons. The Bowron Lake circuit was one of the highlights of his life. When he was not busy playing hockey, or training for Triathlons he would spend time sitting in his log cabin reading his favourite author Louis L’Amour.

Hugh worked and lived in the Elk Valley for 30 years. He was a Teacher, Principal, Coach and role model to many students over the years.
