Ian Charles Alan Shepherd

1986 - 2010

Ian Charles Alan Shepherd was born December 27, 1986 in Cranbrook, British Columbia. He died suddenly June 11, 2010 near Cranbrook, British Columbia.

Ian grew up in Jaffray, British Columbia and attended school there until grade 10. He then attended Fernie Secondary until graduation of grade 12. Ian was an awesome person and loved by anyone who met him. He was known to many as “Shep” or “Easy E”. He never had a bad word to say about anyone and would do anything for his family or friends at anytime. Ian was a top athlete in school and excelled in everything he tried. Throughout his short life Ian enjoyed skateboarding, tae kwon do, skiing, archery, snowmobiling, fishing and hunting. He developed a passion for bull riding and would travel all over British Columbia, Alberta, Washington, Montana and Idaho to participate in this sport with his rodeo family. Ian started working for his grandpa on his sawmill as a student and continued to work for him until 2005 at which time he was hired by Tembec, Elko Division where he was regarded as one of their most valuable employees. Ian had plans to attend as many rodeos as he could throughout the summer and was really looking forward to his other great passion hunting, with his family and friends this fall. We are all so fortunate to have had Ian in our lives and will love and miss him forever.

Ian is survived by his mother Laurie Shepherd; step-father Colin Breakwell; brother James Breakwell (Jaffray, British Columbia); father Ian Shepherd Sr. and his wife Dianne (Vernon, British Columbia); grandparents Trevor and Doris Mostyn (Gold Creek, British Columbia); Ron and Karen Breakwell (Jaffray, British Columbia); George and Jackie Shepherd (Vernon, British Columbia); Maureen Rosicky (Cranbrook, British Columbia); aunts and uncles Diana and Wade Lightburn (Jaffray, British Columbia); Trevor and Kathy Mostyn (Coaldale, Alberta); Vincent Mostyn and Alisha Lightburn (Jaffray, British Columbia): Marla and Jay Jones (Jaffray, British Columbia): Jordie Shepherd (Vernon, British Columbia); Heather and Paul (New Denver, British Columbia). He is also survived by many cousins who he loved and protected.
