A lifetime resident of Fernie, Jack Marasco, passed away peacefully at his home on the 27th of April, 2013, at the age 77.

Jack was born on the 20th of December, 1935 in Fernie, BC to Frank and Assunta Marasco. There were 9 children in the family – 6 brothers, 3 sisters.

Jack is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Marasco, his son Kevin of Fernie, BC and daughter Melanie Glanville (Steve) of Okotoks, AB, 4 grandchildren: Addison and Kylee Glanville and Ty and Austin Marasco, his sister Suzie Czeh of Fernie, BC and his brother Tom Marasco of Port Alberni, BC as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Sam, Ernie, Louis and Jim and sisters Rose Kumorek and Mary Miller.

Jack started his career with Crowsnest Industries in the lumber division. He then worked for Kaiser Resources (Greenhills) as a heavy duty equipment operator. He finished his working career with Sowchuk Trucking.

Jack was an outdoor enthusiast! He loved camping, fishing, and hunting with his friends and family. He enjoyed curling, golfing and playing baseball and also loved to play cards.

The family would like to thank Dr. Soetaert and Wayne Fisher for all their patience and help with Jack.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment followed at St Margaret’s Cemetery.
