James Brown Singleton

James (Jim) Brown Singleton passed away peacefully at his home in Vernon, surrounded by family on January 6, 2017.

He was born November 23, 1932 in Coal Creek BC to William and Gladys. After spending 25 years in the Canadian Military mostly as a Navigator, he retired as a Captain and returned to Fernie, where he built a home and worked for CFI and then Nohels before his final retirement.

Jim enjoyed skiing, golfing, huckleberry picking, curling, darts, walking and spending time with family. He was a long time member of the Fernie branch of the Legion and served many years on the executive.

Jim was predeceased by his wife of 60 years Elsie, almost a year ago. He is survived by 2 brothers Allan of Toronto ON, and Robert (Margaret) of Fernie, : 3 children: Lynn (Eustace) Gonsalvez of Vernon BC, Denise (John) Barkemeyer of Lacombe, AB, and Alan Singleton of Calgary, AB: 4 grandchildren: Jason (Janice) Mace of Vernon, BC, Kevin(Dawn) Mace of Vernon, BC, Kris (Heather) Barkemeyer of Red Deer, AB, and Scott Barkemeyer of Vancouver, BC: and 3 great grandchildren.

He was a wonderful friend, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed.
