December 21, 1937 - November 1, 2019
It is with heavy hearts that the Rawson family announces the sudden passing of Jim. He was born in Fernie on December 21, 1937 to parents Ernie and Sara. Jim was always proud to be a third generation Fernieite
Jim was a colorful part of Fernie's history. He not only brought the Snow Valley Wranglers to new levels; he also was part of bringing rodeo action back into the area. He was a very avid historian of Fernie, especially Morrissey and Swinton. Jim was a very big part of preserving the P.O.W. camp in Morrissey. Let our history not be forgotten.
Jim lived most of his years in Swinton, where he farmed and raised his family. He often joked the he was the "Mayor" of Swinton. Jim was a hands on guy, who never shied away from a challenge or a job. When asked what he did for a living he would say, "Well, I've never been a lawyer or a doctor."
Jim leaves behind the love of his life Marlene, his wife of 58 years, as well as his sons Ken and Brian, 3 sisters: Ella, Bina, and Mona, 4 grandchildren: Kyle (Kelsey), Breanna, Brent (Lindsay), and Shelby (Kyle), and 7 great grandchildren: Heidi, Morgan, Gage, Weston, Paisley, Ember and Leddi.
Celebration for Jim's last ride will be announced by family at a later date.
