BAHER:

It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the death of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, John Anton Baher. John died suddenly on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at the age of 77 years. He was born in Natal on January 6, 1939 to parents John and Josephine Baher.

A man who loved and appreciated his family and friends, John found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding, camping, and tinkering on old machinery.

John worked most of his life as a dozer operator (the best one around!), and later as a part of the powder crew at Teck’s Elkview operation. After retiring in 1999, John continued to work odd jobs to keep himself busy; he was never a man to sit idle!

John’s favorite moments were spent visiting with family and friends. He was a terrific storyteller, and often shared the same story over and over again, laughing each time he told it. His friends jokingly referred to him as the “President of the A&W BS Association”.

John will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.John is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joann Baher, his son John Baher (Diana Holm), grandchildren Brayden and

Morgan Baher, his brother Stephen Baher, sisters Francis

(Bill) Morley and Donna (Don) Yaseniuk, and sisters-in-law

Pat George (Jim Duncan) and Rose Edmonds (Eugene Howell) as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, sisters Shirley Brown, Josie Domin, and Anne Weibe, his brother-in-law Gerrit Tjaden and sister-in-law Pauline Baher.

Memorial tributes may be made in John’s name to S.T.A.R.S.
