GALLA:

It is with aching hearts that we announce the passing of Johnny Galla, beloved husband, father and Nono. Johnny peacefully entered into rest at home with his family by his side on May 1, 2011. Johnny is survived by his wife Ines, daughter ToniLynne (Dan), son Kevin (Deb), and daughter Shelley (Jaret), grandchildren Brittany, Presley, Michael, Dylan, Mackenzi, Caterina and Danika, and great grandchildren Mason and Logan. Johnny was predeceased by his brother Kenneth, mother Margaret, father Mike and father-in-law and mother-in-law Tony and Anne Cancian.

Johnny was born on December 20, 1936 in Michel Natal, the younger of two sons. As a young man Johnny played high school ball and hockey. He continued to play hockey as a goalie for the Coal Kings for several years. Up until the end Johnny enjoyed a good hockey game and the Montreal Canadiens were always #1. After leaving school Johnny went to work for Sowchuk Trucking where he stayed for 52 years. He married his soul mate and best friend for life in 1961. Johnny enjoyed the simple things in life, a good laugh with family and many friends who often stopped by for a visit. Countless hours were spent by Johnny side by side with Ines working to keep their lawn and garden in top form. Anyone driving by on Michel Creek road on a Saturday afternoon was witness to this. Johnny would also enjoy a cold beer after a job well done!

Although Johnny was not a world traveler he did enjoy short trips to Lethbridge, Kalispell or a day beside the river in his own Elk Valley. He will be forever loved and his memory will be cherished for a lifetime.
